Not long ago, the excellent famous dance instructor George Liaros asked me to help him by giving him any relevant information on Kythnos, regarding the preparation of a theatrical musical dance performance, he was preparing at that time. Since our first meeting, I realized that this man was serious and responsible concerning his work, and that he was looking for any authentic elements of tradition. I always support with respect such people and my help has always been there for them. The show lasted for four days and it was absolutely successful. I am not famous for my leniency, on the contrary, I strongly condemn any performances on tradition, and especially, the ones about Kythnos. I watched the last of the performances and was really amazed at the result. The part about my homeland left me completely speechless! Even the last detail was taken into consideration…. It was the scene of the Panagia Flabouriani festival in 1964. Even the polka, the forgotten western dance of Kythnos, was perfectly presented!!!! However, the whole show, with the musicians ,the dancers ,the children, including the four girls from Serbia, was fantastic.»The Diary» theme was pertinent and authentic. As far as I am concerned, I was surprised at the participation of my beloved friend, Thodoris Tasoulas. I wish for my friend ,from now on, George Liaros, the same success, always, since he presents in such a beautiful way the themes of the Greek dance and music tradition, which are so necessary to us...
