On Sunday, March 24th, 2019, at 12:00, the dance group of the Hellenic Folklore Company of Expression and Culture will present traditional dances from all over Greece, in the Main Hall of the Museum. A group of 45 dancers in traditional costumes will take us, through music, to the timelessness of the Greek tradition ....
The happening is being held under the event : «Athens 2018 – International BookWorld Capital City», Municipality of Athens, whose major sponsor is the»Stavros Niarchos» Foundation and it is a part of a series of events about «1821: Reflections on Today», organized by the National History Museum, for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Revolution of 1821. Admission is free.
NHM (www.nhmuseum.gr) is the oldest institution of modern history in our country. Since the late 19th century, it has been collecting, studying and exhibiting items of the political, social and spiritual history of modern Greece, till today. Its rich collections also include valuable relics donated by the families of the fighters of 1821.
As a pioneering organization for the memory of the Fight for Independence, NHM, on the occasion of the anniversary, has planned original exhibitions, not only at its establissment, the Old Parliament, but in museums around the district, as well. At the same time, they edit education leaflets and organize educational programs and open cultural events in collaboration with same institutions throughout the country.
The NHM addresses to many different groups of audience, focusing on young people especially, inviting them to get to know and re-evaluate the place and history of our country, to be entertained and celebrate ....
