On Sunday, November 3rd, 2019, at 13:00-15:00, the host Lambros Liavas, on the TV Show «Salt of the Earth», take us to the Aegean Sea, tracing the cultural-musical and communication links between the islands of the Aegean Sea and Asia Minor. The land of Ionia ( with its center, Smyrna) and Constantinople (at the coasts of Propontis),as well, have functioned as a «matrix of culture and music» by implanting to the islands of the Aegean Sea songs, tunes, dances and instruments of the Asia Minor, which were adapted to the local traditions, through the Aegean Sea.
Nikos Economides, a leading violin virtuoso, after having made a thorough research, commits himself to guide us to the « Asia Minor folkore in the Aegean Sea», focusing on the musical dancing traditions of Kythnos, Paros and Naxos. At the same time, George Venetoulias (philologist-folklorist) and Nikos Karambourniotis (President of the Asia Minor & Constantinople Association «Rizes») refer to the Minor Asian heritage and its preservation, on the islands and in Athens, too, where the refuges settled in .
Nikos Economides (violin-song) is accompanied by the musicians: Kyriaki Spanou (song), Panagiotis Vergos (zither), George Gavras (lute), Nikos Tsantanis (bagpipe) and Dionysia Pappoulis (toumbi). The members of the «Greek Folklore Company of Expression and Culture - E.L.ET.E.P.» are dancing (curated by Giorgos Liaros) and dancers-entertainers from Kythnos, Amorgos, Sifnos, Paros, Schinoussa and Mikrasians from Meli at Megara are participating, too.
